Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Buon Natale

As Christmas day comes to a close we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and joyous holiday season !

Over the last couple of weeks we have had a couple of lovely festive gigs playing Christmas songs in The Sligo Bus Station for Customer Appreciation Day and a lunch time gig in Pink Clover Café for the Christmas Tree Festival as well as a Saturday night gig in Lillie’s and the 22nd in Peacock Lane ( where some of Coolaney Gospel Choir were there and joined us for a couple of songs! ).

There are certain Christmas songs that never seem to get old and every year I enjoy singing or listening to them. Some of my favourites include Driving Home For Christmas, Last Christmas, Baby Please Come Home and Stay Another Day.

For the last couple of years I’ve thought about writing a Christmas song and haven’t managed to finish one yet ! I did however start writing one while we were travelling in Mexico and you never know if I’m feeling brave maybe I’ll share a snippet of it on Insta / Tik Tok before the new year.. ;-)

The end of a year never fails to get me thinking about the year coming and I feel that it’s a time to be brave, a time for some changes and a time for making plans. January can be a very dreary dark month but being in the planning mode really helps. We plan on spending a lot of time recording this January which we are very excited about!

The year end also gets me thinking about the year gone by and reminiscing.

2023 was a really good year for us for live music, we got our first residency playing every Monday and then every Thursday in Lillie’s Cocktail Bar Sligo. We got a lot better at social media and started posting much more regularly.

We performed our original music at a few lovely events including Wild Roots Festival, The Informal Music Afternoon at the Model, and we supported Jargon at The Hawk's Well Theatre as part of Sligo Live Festival. This was a massive highlight for us to play our own music on the Hawk’s Well stage supporting such an iconic act from Sligo.

We even got some professional footage of the event which we can’t wait to start sharing shortly. Thank you so much to Kris and Dominika Manulak for your brilliant work. Thank you also to Jargon for having us and to Dickon Whitehead on sound.

In May, we got scouted and were part of a competition and reached the top 100 finalists in the running to work with Darkchild and feature on The Culture Mix Tape Volume 1. I mean Rodney Jerkins, how cool would that be? That really boosted our confidence and made us feel like we must be doing something right.

Christmas can be a tough time for people, we mourn those who are not with us, we can feel lonely, we feel pressure from a lot of angles and it can all just be too much.

I hope you’re feeling somewhat content and can take comfort in the fact that although it can be a really lovely family day, if you don’t experience it the way you had hoped, it's just a single day and there are so many more days to look forward to.

Look after yourself, take comfort in those you love and love you, treasure special memories and be excited to plan some new ones. If you find something or someone that makes your heart happy take the moment and make it last.

Here’s hoping 2024 is an outstanding one for us all ! <3
